SHORT STORY

This is a story of friendship and pure love among family, friends, and kindred spirits from different religions. Set in the three southernmost provinces of Thailand, the story highlights the beauty and tranquility of the region, often overshadowed by media portrayals of conflict. Beneath the surface lies a community filled with purity of heart, generosity, unity, respect, and the steadfastness of family values—the cornerstone of a strong society. Through the lens of film, this story aims to provide an immersive experience while fostering understanding among Thai people, promoting peaceful coexistence.

The Plot:
"Ton" (Peter Corp Dyrendal), a Thai Buddhist banker, is transferred to work in Pattani. He moves south with his adorable niece, "Fai-Fu" (Chinaradee Anupongphichat). Despite initial apprehensions about the region’s unrest, Ton quickly realizes it’s not as intimidating as the news suggests. To his surprise, he falls for "Fah" (Bowling Prissana Kampusiri), a Muslim teacher at Fai-Fu’s elementary school.

Though Fah shows interest in Ton, a significant obstacle stands in his way: "Teacher Hatson" (Sahatchai Chumrum), Fah’s devoutly Muslim father, who disapproves of Fah associating with a man outside their religion. Hatson also strongly opposes Fah returning to teach in Bangkok. With the humorous support of his new colleague, "Pueak" (Bao Wee), Ton learns more about Muslim traditions and gradually earns Hatson’s reluctant acceptance.

Meanwhile, "Sharif" (Mouse from B.O.Y.), a silat athlete, is rigorously training to defeat his long-time rival in an upcoming provincial selection tournament. In his single-minded pursuit, he neglects his close friend "Fern" (Mind from Nong Mai Rai Burisut), a sweet-voiced girl who hosts a community radio program. Upset and concerned about Sharif's academics, Fern grows distant, leading to a rift between them. During the tournament, Fern secretly watches from afar as Sharif loses in the finals. Though she feels for him, she hesitates to approach or console him.

As the mosque’s restoration nears completion, Fah invites Ton to the celebration. However, an unforeseen incident occurs when Teacher Hatson collapses at home before the event. Alone with her father, Fah desperately tries to reach Ton for help but cannot contact him. Forced to act, she takes Hatson to the hospital by herself. Ton eventually arrives, and though Hatson is out of danger, Ton finds himself torn. A friend from Bangkok offers him the chance to rejoin his former music group, leaving him conflicted about his future and his relationship with Fah.

Through its heartfelt exploration of Thai Buddhist and Muslim lives, this story portrays the challenges and beauty of coexistence. It demonstrates how understanding and warmth can bridge differences, offering an uplifting perspective on life’s shared human essence.
